finally got around to playing this and its sooo cute. little puzzles and stealth, but very easy. thats okay tho!! easy games can be nice to relax with. I really like the silly robots, they reminded me of okami npcs. and then the music reminded me of oneshot… when thinking about it the whole story is like oneshot!! :_3 I love oneshot so its nice. I played with my bf and cat, it was such a comforting experience. thank you for making this game ♡‪ I cried (´ ;ω；｀)

i didnt care for this game at first, but got much better during chapter 3 i think. i loved the atmosphere of zeiss and tita is a cute silly character. also loved the mystery of the black orbment _(´ω`_ )_ the final dungeon was kinda annoying tho (>_>) too many repetitive monster chests...

the ending tho !!!!! like wow didnt expect that lol it really pulled me in and made me go straight into sc.

beautiful game. I enjoyed this one way more, than the first game. I love the new characters especially michiru, yukiko, ayako, and masaki. (michiru best girl, shes me for real..!!)

the setting of this one is one of the reasons I love it so much. the atmosphere of the snowy isolated village with the mysterious curse is my kind of thing when it comes to horror. it reminds me of higurashi, my first vn ever. :_3 also, the comparasion to higurashi isnt just with the setting, i was reminded of it as well with the twin twist.

the ending made me cry, it was so sad. very memoriable and heartbreaking. can never forget his cries, they were haunting and full of emotion. toko... :c literal masterpiece, so excited to play the final part AAA !! (；；)

although have to say, the translation isn’t the best (same for part 1). me and my bf read together and laughed at the amount of times they repeated “they rose to their feet.” xD

this game has HORRIBLE reviews. very low rating, so bad i was questioning if it was worth playing. although it was actually really fun, and lowkey prefer it over the first games gameplay which surprised me. (・ω・) just like the first game, its hard without a guide to know where to go, but i don’t mind using guides tbh. it is an older remake than the 1st game and definitely shows its age. i love the new characters, especially shizuka... ♡♡ best girl!!!!! cutest witch girl ( *´ ་།｀) excited to see where this story goes in the next games.

finally starting the rance series!! been interested in it for a while because of it being a visual novel rpg hybrid and also because theres some cute characters :3 it is a very old series, the first game is from 1989. the first 3 games have remakes, which i will be playing because they have great improvements and are canon to later games.

rance 01 is a point and click game with card gameplay. you pick cards to navigate through dungeons and use weapon chips in a turn based battle. you usually would buy lots of weapon chips and use them all at once in battle. it was simple, but i liked it ! ^^ only problem is that its very grindy. had a few difficultly spikes too.. luckily grinding wasn’t too bad because you can abuse the combat arena.

the story was.. alright. i mostly just liked the characters. rance is funny and lots of cute girls ! millie and sill are my favorites. i only started using a guide half way through the game.. i wanted to play blind, but it was getting a bit difficult to know what to do next. after checking the guide, i realized i missed a lot of quests and was locked out from them. :_3 ill make sure to use a guide from the start next game lol

anyways, the first game was a fun experience. not amazing, but i had a good time and it made me excited to see what the series will turn into later. cute witch girl next game !!!! cant wait n-n

this game holds close to my heart. I resonate deeply with games about dream worlds, they feel so personal. i have extremely vivid dreams that blur the line between illusion and my real life. to the point where when i wake up, they don’t just feel like a dream, but actual memories from a second life. the ending of klonoa made me cry, because i know exactly how it feels. the pain of losing a friend who never even existed. i have many dreams like that and it hurts waking up and having that realization. it may have just been a dream, but those emotions i felt were real. i like to think that the person who wrote this story had similar experiences as me.

muv-luv is a visual novel separated in 2 parts, extra and unlimited. extra is a highschool romance story and unlimited is miltary mecha action with slice of life. the purpose of both these games is just to prepare you for the second game, alternative. extra lets you get to know and become attached to the cast and unlimited introduces you to the world. although extra, receives a lot of hate being called boring. i personally don’t agree with that, its a bit slow and nothing special, but i had a fun time. :3 although, this is just my opinion for meiyas and sumikas routes. i was a bit impatient and wanted to see how the story unfolds in unlimited, but i’ll be sure to get to the other routes later. :_3 these routes tho made me care so much for sumika and meiya.... they were definitely worth reading. ♡‪

now for unlimited, i fell in love here!!(/▿＼ ) my opinion on extra wasn’t too strong, but in unlimited, muv-luv was starting to become something truly special. alternate timeline traveling, the depressing mysterious world under attack by aliens, the pain of being in a world with everyone besides sumika, it was truly a great story for me. many lines relating to sumika stuck to me.. even made me cry (／ˍ・、) i miss her....

" so what i'm saying is.... i don't think i'll ever see you again.

unlimited introduces us to a character named, kasumi yashiro.. and i loveee her, new comfort character (´ ˘ `).｡oO (♡) i adore her bunny motifs and very quiet demeanor. she rarely speaks and when she does it is just a word or 2. shirogane teaches her different phrases throughout the game and she slowly starts saying more things.... i love that type of character development. in the ending, 2 years passed by and she was also speaking so much!! made me so happy for her. can’t wait to learn more about her in the next game because she is mysterious and seems important to the plot.

my only complaint with unlimited was the endings. unlike extra, i did every ending and it ruined the experience for me. all of them are identical with the girls saying the same exact thing as each other. it just felt less special knowing it wasn’t unique to the character and just was reading off a general script.

this visual novel is exactly what i’ve been searching for. im a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy jrpgs, and i wanted to find a story like that but in visual novel format. moe sci-fi military mecha with dark complex lore is also the best !!! like xenosaga. :3c

the alien and universe world building in muv-luv is pretty cool. i enjoyed the info-dumps about them. something else i fell in love with is sumika and her tragic relationship with shirogane. i think its one of the best parts of the game. shes the explanation to the whole story, he was brought to this world because of her and every time he falls for someone else, hes forced to repeat time. although, shes also shown being very emotional and self-loathing.. she lost her humanity and feels like she doesn’t belong with him.. her writing is beautiful. best character along with kasumi.

kasumi is my favorite vn girl ever. ^^ everything about her is so cute. she was shown as mysterious, but in alternative, her true self is revealed. i think her and kasumis relationship is so sweet. i like how kasumi is clingy with her, idolizing her, and wanting to connect with her memories. i love her tragic writing and find her relatable. theres so much i can ramble abt her, but want to keep this short. :_3

the world of muv-luv is depressing, but hopeful. theres a point half way that represents a big turn in the story, when one of the characters gets her head bit off in front of the protagonists eyes. tbh, that one the first time in my life i genuinely cried from the bottom of my heart because of a game then turned it off. lol. it rlly shocked me, like someone actually died. then it happened again !! and i did the same thing. lol.

i love this vn, but its far from perfect. i think it can be repetitive at times, especially with the constant flashbacks.... also the endings are such a HUGE PAIN. omg. like they barely add anything to the story and the process to get to them takes forever. gotta skip half the game and the cutscenes are unskippable x_x

but anyways !! the flaws are okay, muv-luv still holds a special place in my heart. made me feel so warm and the story actually hit close to home. the storys main message is about trauma and grief of death. and the day after i started playing extra, i lost someone.... probably why i cried so much.;w;

kara no shoujo the last episode, as you can tell by the name, is finally the conclusion of reijis story. it goes back to mysteries involving art and novels like the first game. i find that aspect very unique and interesting. the second game is my personal favorite in the trilogy, but i do adore the art mysteries.

something i love about this game is how it feels much more mature and realistic, not using as much anime cliches you usually see in visual novels. an example of this is reiji not wanting to tell his daughter the truth because she already has a family and doesn’t want to ruin that. yes, it would be happily ever after finding his daughter and becoming family, but its not that simple. he wasn’t the one taking care of her for years, not who she loves as her parent. its a complicated situation. i also find his and stellas relationship quite mature as well. not pushing romance, but just friends with benefits and mutual feeling of lost. it's something different and refreshing for this medium. although to be expected with an adult cast, mostly people in their 30s/40s. you wouldn’t see this type of thing in highschool romance.

the true ending was so sweet, seeing tokos daughter following in her footsteps... truly mother-like daughter.. a fated reunion.

the optional endings of this game was really nice too. loved seeing the ending of masakis personal story as well, going back to his hometown and seeing his childhood bestfriend one last time. the ending with tokos mother and uncle was really dark.... i honestly disliked the mother since the first game. in the first game, shes just shown as a jealous mother who secretly dislikes her daughter. it really rubbed me the wrong way, feel like mothers who can’t put aside those feelings are truly horrible and dont deserve children.. in this ending, we finally saw her true colors. both of them are disgusting in their own way. :/ makes me glad that at least her daughter didn’t suffer the same way as her, has parents who truly love and care for her. her similarities to toko makes it seem like an alternative toko… toko if she had a nice a normal family.

the story is now over.. will miss it. one of my top favorite vn stories and probably will never find any other like it. will be reading cartagra next ! (n_n)

i first played like half of trails of the sky fc in 2023, but i was not feeling it at all. i didnt really see the appeal and didnt care for the cast provided. although i knew it gets better later, but i had 0 motivation :c i honestly never saw myself finishing... sorry. although my opinion totally flipped after playing the series in the total wrong order lolol (don’t recommend doing this tho...) i saw the cast of the game and felt like they were much more interesting looking, especially tio and randy. tio is the cutest and randy just seems cool :3c i decided.. fuck it. i never thought id finish sky fc so why not. if this interests me, maybe it will make me like sky better.. which yep it did. -w-

a simple story, but it engaged me from start to finish because of the lovable group of friends cast. tio was my favorite. shes quiet but sarcastic, loves cute things, teases others when she opens up, lonely, good with tech, mage, and an adorable design. her story was tragic and relatable.. the parts i found relatable was how her parents and others treated her after coming home. its something i feel as an autistic person in a way.

anyways.. next i’m playing is actually going to be trails in the sky, not azure. zero had scenes that i didn’t understand, but made me want to understand. so will be finally finishing it up. :3

woaaw... ever since i finished the xeno franchise, i’ve been trying to find a jrpg that could fill that void, and this finally did it for me.

this might be my favorite final dungeon area. the city, its lore, the atmosphere... it was all so visually captivating and fascinating. i love the idea of a floating city, and it reminded me a lot of shevat from xenogears— except it’s a sentient antagonist. such a unique concept, and i completely fell in love with it.

it also wasn’t a huge headache to play through, which i appreciated a lot. some older jrpg final dungeons can feel exhausting, and even zero + fc final areas i didn’t enjoy nearly as much. i much preferred the boss floor structure here :3c

i love renne !! her story was tragic but beautiful, i need more of her. she deserves all the happiness. my favorite character in sky. excited to read 3rd chapter and see more of her. her ending scene made me tear up.

another character I loved was Loewe, along with joshua. i didnt really care for joshua at first, but learning about his melancholic backstory with loewe made me so attached to both of them.

i hate the protagonist!!! he’s so incompetent. the first half of the story felt like a generic ecchi eroge trying to disguise itself as a horror mystery. there were moments where the plot seemed like it was finally going somewhere, only for the tone to completely drop when the protagonist forgets all about it and goes off to have sex with more girls lol.

it did get a lot better near the end, though. i really loved yura’s character. even so, the ending didn’t have the same tone that i loved about kara no shoujo. it felt a little too happy— more like a typical happily ever after ending. the fact that he shot a frail woman in the chest and she still survived felt a bit cliché. kns endings always carried a deep, tragic resonance.

the story was somewhat disappointing, but I still appreciate it because it feels like a prototype for the kns trilogy. a lot of the ideas and themes introduced here are expanded on in the later games. this story had a lot of potential, and kns takes those ideas and turns them into something genuinely beautiful.

i didn’t get too attached to most of the characters, but I did like yura and tokiko. I enjoyed their stories and their gloomy personalities. kazuna also had a cute design and cgs.

the setting and soundtrack were pleasant too. I liked the dark color palette and the nostalgic feel of the music. it was a flawed and messy vn, but I don’t regret reading it.

also! i saw the remake has a new ending for yura. will be reading later. :3c

finally continuing the rance series after playing through 01 and 02 last year. this one is an improvement from previous installments for many reasons. the gameplay is similar to 01, but instead of weapons, you have party members' skills. usually you’d want to keep it to one skill per party member because the party number is just based on their skill chips, not the actual number of members. surprisingly very addictive gameplay tho, and I had so much fun with it. :3 appreciate this one being very playable without a guide. I did miss some things.. but I never had any issues with where to go, like 01 and 02.

the story is pretty good in this one too!! its setting up some nice world-building, and I’m excited to see what happens in the next games. also just, i adore the characters so much... this game made me fall in love with the cast, and they are comforting to me.. 03 is a much bigger game, and for that reason there is so much more dialogue which brings you closer to the cast. the voice acting is very nice too !! sad it's only game to have it :c and rance doesn’t have a voice besides in battle aaa.. ; - ; sad

this is also the first game to get to know shizuka better because she doesn’t show until end of 2... best girl !! :3 I loved her little story with aizel too. I shipped them... sad this is the world of rance, and obviously that won’t happen lol. oh well, she still has yuri with maria. :3c

one of my compliants are I wishh there were more sfw cgs. :/ you mostly only get cgs for the sex. ; - ; would be nice to see more, especially when they only have one default sprite for dialogue.

had no idea they could do another masterpiece like sc, but this was such a beautiful game and my new favorite in the series so far :_3

the lore surrounding the azure flowers, the great big tree transforming crossbell into something that feels like a magical alternate reality, the ost, and flying around in the merkabah. loved the final chapter so much. it was such a memorable experience.

this game was mostly centered around kea. her tragic writing was so well written, onpar to renne. a girl who just wants to have a family and live life as a normal girl.. but sadly was created to be a sacrificial vessel for a god. the villains of story manipulates her into believing she has no choice to be this role and believed she wasn’t actually loved and it was just her powers that cause ppl to want to worship her. :c i love her. just thinking about her heartbroken, self-loathing scenes makes me tear up. need her to be happy. T . T

the ending, unlike the other games, isn’t exactly a happily ever after. its more like, accepting that you can’t always fix things. sometimes fixing things isn’t actually the morally correct choice... its a cool ending, to be honest. the villians were actually the ones attempting to save crossbell. although the way they were doing it just wasn’t morally correct. so in the end, they had to surrender. can’t wait to see how this story will continue in the future of cold steel. :3
